🚫Don't say '비가 있다'

Have you ever said "비가 있다" in Korean? Many Korean learners commonly make this mistake.

So, what is the correct way to say it in Korean? 🤔💡

🔹 In Korean, we don’t say "비가 있다" (There is rain).

🔹 Instead, we say "비가 오다" (Rain is coming / It is raining).

📌 Why?

  • In English, "There is rain" is understandable, but in Korean, weather-related words (like rain, snow, and wind) are often expressed as an action rather than just existing.

  • "오다" means "to come," so "비가 오다" naturally describes the action of rain falling.

📌 Examples:

  1. 오늘 비가 와서 우산을 가져왔어요. (It’s raining today, so I brought an umbrella.)

  2. 어제는 하루 종일 비가 왔어요. (It rained all day yesterday.)

💡 Tip:

  • Similarly, we say "눈이 오다" (It is snowing) instead of "눈이 있다." 😊
